FOR THE COMMUNITY, BY THE COMMUNITY

Village Market was designed by our community to meet a basic need: fresh, local, culturally appropriate food, at a reasonable price.

Since 2021, Village Market has been the place for New Columbia and Tamarack neighborhoods to shop for necessary supplies, culturally appropriate meals, and healthy produce—much of which is grown only blocks away in our own Seeds of Harmony Gardens.

***It’s Growing Season***

Village Market is excited to highlight produce grown two blocks away in our community garden.

A COMMITMENT TO ACCESS

Necessary goods, such as formula, milk, pet foods, and hygiene products are kept at low prices, comparable with big-box stores in the area. Learn more about our Priority Goods List, Ethnic Foods List, and Specialty Order List, or come by and submit a suggestion in-person at our suggestion box!

Village Market provides tens of thousands of free apples, bananas and oranges yearly to neighborhood youth, completely free of charge. In 2024 alone, our SNAP and WIC customers took home $9000 in free fruits and vegetables through our partnership with Double-Up Food Bucks, and $7000 in discounts for fresh local produce.

Village Market is fulfilling its mission of being affordable, accessible by foot, and providing healthy food options to the New Columbia community. Village Market remains the only grocery store in the city that authentically puts healthy food choices on the same playing field as other choices. At Village Market, customers’ money goes further when folks make healthy choices for themselves and their families.
