Kitchen Stories

Village Gardens Story Kitchen

When: Wednesday 9/19, 4 - 7pm

Where: 4401 N Trenton St. We will meet in the covered kitchen area towards the back of the garden.

What: Cook and share a community harvest meal together built around what’s available from the garden, while we share stories and experiences around food!

Food is important. Yes, we need food to survive, but it’s so much more than that. Food helps us connect with who we are and where we come from. It is a powerful way to express love and care for others, and is a vehicle for us to share our stories and traditions. Food bridges families and neighbors in mealtime, helps us celebrate life’s special moments, and allows us to gift one another with our care and our time.

Kitchen Commons is partnering with Village Gardens to host a community cooking event. We are exploring the ways that food touches our lives- the ways that food can bring people together and also reveal divisions, challenges, needs and opportunities. Join us to share stories and experiences about food while we cook and eat a meal together. Everyone is welcome, including children.  RSVPs to jocelyn@kitchencommons.net or 503-956-0672 are appreciated so we can get a sense of how much food to prepare.
