For my birthday this year, I'm asking for donations to Village Market because
“everyone has a right to live in safe and thriving neighborhoods with access to good food.”
Village Market is a nonprofit grocery store in the New Columbia neighborhood of North Portland (which is Oregon's largest affordable housing neighborhood). I learned about them through my job as Community Coordinator at New Seasons Market. Village Market, a program of Janus Youth, is part of a trifecta of programs focused on food equity and youth empowerment in this community. The market provides fresh, healthy local choices in an area that has traditionally been a “food desert.”
If 50 people are generous enough to give $50 (in honor of my 50th birthday, coming right up on August 6th), it would raise $2,500 for this amazing community center. And YES! Every donation is tax-deductible.
Thank you so much,
