Food Works' CSA is FULL for the 2017 Season.

By purchasing a portion of the season’s harvest, CSA members develop a partnership with our farm, the youth employed at Food Works and the Village Gardens' community. All funds from our CSA go back into the program to help employ youth from North Portland and to operate our 2.5 acre certified organic farm on Sauvie Island.

What's in a CSA Share?

  • A diverse assortment of at least 8 types of vegetables from May 25th - October 28th, a total of 23 weeks.
  • It’s a great size for a family or a couple hungry adults.
  • The weekly Food Works newsletter keeps you up to date on what’s in season, our favorite recipes, youth writings, and Food Works program updates.

How much does it cost?

A full share Food Works CSA costs $600. You can choose payment in full or two installments. We have a limited number of shares available to SNAP participants for $400, thanks to the Double Up Food Bucks Program. All money goes directly towards supporting youth employment. Sign up early to reserve your box!

Where can I pick up my box?

We offer 3 pick-up sites:

  • Thursday 4-7pm: Village Market (4632 N Trenton St. @ N. Newman Ave)
  • Thursday 9am-4pm: Janus Youth Programs Office (707 NE Couch St. @ NE 7th Ave)
  • Saturday 9am-2pm: St. Johns Farmers Market (In the St. Johns Plaza, N. Philadelphia & N. Lombard)

Can I pay with SNAP benefits?

Yes! We are excited to partner with the Portland Area CSA Coalition to offer a SNAP payment option in conjunction with the Double Up Food Bucks program! Double Up Food Bucks provides matching money to Food Works Farm, making a CSA share more affordable while supporting Food Works' economic sustainability. A full share normally costs $600, but will only cost you $400 with Double Up Food Bucks.   You would make an initial payment of $50 and five monthly SNAP payments starting in June and ending in October of $70. Double Up Food Bucks are limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. You are eligible if you, or anyone in your household, was not a member of any CSA in 2016. We can not accept SNAP cash benefits in this program.
